Edwina Helton, professor of English, and Jeffrey Jones, adjunct professor of public affairs, recently received approval by Apple for their books Posters of the New Deal and The New Deal in Photographs to be available on iPad and iTunes.
Indiana University East recognized several faculty and staff with awards for their service to the university during the Honors Convocation ceremony held April 19.
Rob Tolley, senior lecturer in anthropology and sociology, is this year’s recipient of the Helen Lees Award, established in 1991. Professor Emeritus Lees passed away in 1992, but her spirit continues in this annual award to honor a full-time faculty member who has taught at least 10 semesters at IU East.
Kony 2012: Discussion on viral video
The Social Inequality class, taught by Assistant Professor of Sociology Wazir Mohamed, will host a public discussion on the recent viral video “Kony 2012” from 5:30-8 p.m. on Monday, April 16, in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall.
The Indiana University East Center for Leadership Development will receive a grant from the Indiana University Women’s Philanthropy Council to establish a new Academy for Cultivating Talent. The IU Women’s Philanthropy Council announced the award recipients on March 6.
IU East receives ADDY, AEAA Awards
Indiana University East received several awards from the 27th Annual Educational Advertising Awards, sponsored by the Higher Education Marketing Report, including a gold, bronze, and four merit awards. The national competition recognizes the fields of admissions marketing and advertising.

Scales is the director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and lecturer of business administration for the School of Business and Economics. Scales’ research and creative activities are involved in marketing and entrepreneurship with a strong focus on community.

The fellowship is designed to give writers the time and freedom to pursue their work; the creative writing fellowships are the NEA’s most direct investment in America’s artists. Harper is the only person in Indiana to receive the fellowship in literature for this year.
