Today Indiana University East announced that library director, Frances Yates, and her husband, Sean, gave a $58,000 gift in support of scholarships for students at IU East who are engaged in service-learning activities.
Indiana University East Director of the Campus Library Frances Yates was one of 10 librarians to receive the prestigious Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award. The award was presented December 2 in New York City.
IU East hosts discussion on service-learning contributes to academic success
Several Indiana University East faculty, staff and students participated in the Indiana University Partnerships and Reciprocity Conference on service-learning initiatives. The conference was held at IUPUI November 14 and had live participants at all eight Indiana University campuses.
The Starr-Gennett Foundation and Indiana University East have partnered to make over 300 digital recordings available to the public. The Gennett Record label has national significance in the world of music and American culture.
Indiana University East has several new full-time faculty members on staff this fall. The additional faculty will further enhance the campus’ mission as a comprehensive bachelor’s and master’s degree institution.
“IU East continues to grow and, to accommodate the growth, has added more full-time faculty over the past two years,” says Larry Richards, executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at IU East. “We expect the trend to continue and to add even more full-time faculty positions in the years to come.”
University College underway with hire of executive director
Carrie Heller is the executive director of University College, a new office established at Indiana University East to provide first-year students with the academic and personal support they need to be successful. Heller began her duties on June 1. Heller has a M.S. in College Student Personnel Administration from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY.
