Theatrical comedy, drama performance coming to IU East

March 12, 2009 |

The IU East Alumni Association and the IU East Office of Multicultural Affairs will present Sonnets for my Sistahs: The game at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 19 in Vivian Auditorium.

Sonnets for my Sistahs: The game is a theatrical comedy and drama of relationship challenges, based upon the poetry book, Sonnets for my Sistahs, by IU alumnus Vernon A. Williams. Previously seen to capacity audiences on the stages around the region, including the Madame Walker Theater and the Gary West Side Auditorium, Sonnets for my Sistahs: The game applauds the idea that love and relationships know no color. Performed in two acts, in “Urban Shakespeare,” the message of the performance will appeal to a broad group-from high school student to retirees, from college students to working professionals, from single individuals to couples.

The performance is free for IU East students. For others, tickets cost $8 per person or $5 for alumni association members. Tickets are available at the door or in advance by calling The Office of Alumni Relations at (765) 973-8316.
