Parent Partnership Linkage Program

(a special project of Indiana University East)

Parents play a key role in the education of their children. The most successful students are thsoe who come from homes where the parents are supportive and actively involved in their child's education. This program is designed to increase parents' beliefe that their child will benefit from attending college and that there are ways to pay for this education. The ultimate goal of Parent Partnership Linkage Program is to help parents view college attendance and graduation not as an option, but as a "MUST DO - CAN DO" priority.

To encourage an incrase parents' belief that their children can benefit from attending college and to help them become aware of how to achieve these goals for their children, the following workshops will be offered.

  • Planting seeds for success
  • Preparing for parent/teacher conferences
  • How to help your child succeed in preparing for college
  • The college admission process and procedures
  • College is an investment: earnings vs. learning
  • Using computers to research colleges and scholarships
  • Overcoming the transition from middle school to high school
  • What do faculty members expect from your child
  • The variety of careers available
  • Harvesting seeds for success

"Unless your children are stronger, smarter, and more independent that the rest of the children in this country, they will not do as well without your help as they would with it." ~William Jenkins
