Student Spotlight

Distance Education

Chris Thompson is 18 years old, likes to play baseball and listens to Three Days Grace…your average college freshman. He knew in high school that he wanted to go to college but he didn’t know where. So during his senior year at Winchester Community High School, he signed up to take classes for college credit through IU East.  “Taking college classes in high school helped me know what professors expected of me as a student,” Thompson said. He ended up choosing IU East because its small class size and friendly atmosphere. In his first semester at IU East, Chris made the Dean’s List. He is now developing a group of new friends who share the same career goals. Amazingly, Chris also works 30 hours a week and is still able to make time for family.
