Empowering Students for Success
The Groups Scholars Program was created as a way to increase college attendance among first-generation, underrepresented students at Indiana University East. The program provides academic, financial, and social support to help students attain a bachelor's degree at Indiana University East.
This selective, long-standing scholarship program has been at IU Bloomington since 1968 and is now being made available to students attending IU East.The program includes a six-week summer bridge program, a free summer course, a $250 fall book voucher, and a total of $3000 in scholarships (including laptop scholarship). The value of this program is over $5,000 and it is being made available to you for no cost!
Students who participate in the 6-week Groups Scholars program will have the opportunity to:
- Take a free course to kickstart their college career
- Connect with other new students and make life-long friends
- Develop skills to be college and career ready
- Build confidence for coping with the challenges of college
- Develop leadership and teamwork skills
- Explore local restaurants and unique area hotspots
- Network with local employers and tour their facilities
