We know that paying for college is an important factor in determining which college is right for you. That's why tuition at IU East is less than $8,500/year, and we're committed to helping you find the best financial aid opportunities available to you.

  1. First, complete the FAFSA! To be eligible for grants, loans, other financial aid & most scholarships, you must successfully submit your FAFSA (Free Application for Financial Aid). Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen

Admission-Based Scholarships

  • These scholarships require no separate application and are automatically offered if you meet the specified academic criteria.
  • Admission Application Deadline: February 15th, 2024
    • Please note: deadlines for merit and other scholarships can be as early as Dec 1, so we recommend you apply for application in the Fall.

  • Award: $24,000 ($6,000 annually for 4 years)
  • Criteria: Students admitted by February 15, 2024 who are ranked first or second in their high school class may qualify for this scholarship.  Students must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident.
  • Renewal Requirements: Must attend full time and maintain at least a 3.0 IU cumulative GPA.

Please note that recipients of this scholarship are ineligible for most competitive scholarships.

Level One

  • Award: $20,000 ($5,000 annually for 4 years)
  • Criteria: Students admitted by February 15, 2024 who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 and higher with a 1360 SAT (Combination of Math and Evidence based Reading and Writing) or 29 ACT score may be eligible for this scholarship. Students must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident.
  • Renewal Requirements: Must attend full time and maintain at least a 3.0 IU cumulative GPA.

Level Two

  • Award: $16,000 ($4,000 annually for 4 years)
  • Criteria: Students admitted by February 15, 2024 who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 and higher with a 1270 SAT (Combination of Math and Evidence based Reading and Writing) or 26 ACT score may be eligible for this scholarship. Students must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident.
  • Renewal Requirements: Must attend full time and maintain at least a 3.0 IU cumulative GPA.

Level One

  • Award: $12,000 ($3,000 annually for 4 years)
  • Criteria: Students who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 with a minimum 1220 SAT (Combination of Math and Evidence based Reading and Writing) or 25 ACT, who are admitted by February 15, 2024 are eligible for this admission-based scholarship. Students must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident.
  • Renewal Requirements: Must enroll full time and maintain at least a 2.75 IU cumulative GPA.

Level Two

  • Award: $8,000 ($2,000 annually for 4 years)
  • Criteria: Students who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 with a minimum 1170 SAT (Combination of Math and Evidence based Reading and Writing) or 24 ACT, who are admitted by February 15, 2024 are eligible for this admission-based scholarship. Students must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident.
  • Renewal Requirements: Must attend full time and maintain at least a 2.75 IU cumulative GPA.

  • Award: $6,000 ($1,500 annually for 4 years)
  • Criteria: Students admitted by February 15, 2023 who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 to 4.0 may be eligible for this scholarship. Students must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident. Taking the SAT and/or ACT is not necessary to receive this scholarship.
  • Renewal Requirements: Must attend full time and maintain at least a 2.75 IU cumulative GPA.

  • Award: $4,000 ($1,000 annually for 4 years)
  • Criteria: Students admitted by February 15, 2023 who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.25 to 3.49 may be eligible for this scholarship. Students must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident. Taking the SAT and/or ACT is not necessary to receive this scholarship.
  • Renewal Requirements: Must attend full time and maintain at least a 2.75 IU cumulative GPA.

Merit Scholarships

  • Awarded on a competitive basis.
  • Deadlines vary.

  • Award: $24,000 ($6,000 annually for 4 years)
  • Deadline: February 15, 2023, admission and scholarship application
  • Criteria: Students ranking in the top 10 percent of their high school class with exceptional SAT (Combination of Math and Evidence based Reading and Writing) or ACT scores are eligible to apply for this competitive scholarship. Emphasis will be placed on academic excellence, but extracurricular activities and community service will also be considered. Students must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident.
  • Responsibilities: Distinguished Scholars will demonstrate a commitment to help promote IU East to future students through participation in new student recruitment and other campus activities. These scholars are also expected to apply and remain eligible for the Honors Program.
  • Renewal Requirements: Must attend full time and maintain at least a 3.0 IU cumulative GPA.

This award amount includes any other admission-based award offers.

  • Award: $16,000 ($4,000 annually for 4 years)
  • Deadline: February 15, 2023, admission and scholarship application
  • Criteria: Students who meet the Academic Excellence Scholarship criteria are invited to apply for this competitive scholarship. Emphasis will be placed on well-rounded students, excelling not only in academics, but also in extracurricular activities, leadership abilities, and community service. Students must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident.
  • Responsibilities: IU East Outstanding Scholars will demonstrate a commitment to help promote IU East to future students through participation in new student recruitment and other campus activities. These scholars are also expected to apply and remain eligible for the Honors Program.
  • Renewal Requirements: Must attend full time and maintain at least a 3.0 IU cumulative GPA.
