Basketball and Tennis news

03/10/2011

The basketball team played Wednesday night. It was a very, very close game. All 40 minutes were played with high intensity, energy, and focus. The boys put up the biggest fight I have ever seen. It came down to 4 seconds; we were down by 3. David Sanders (a junior from Indpls.) shot a half court shot that literally went in and out. It was a tough loss. Despite the loss, the deserved the trip, the game, and all the support that came along with it.

Although our sports program is so young, it has been very successful! The cross country, volleyball, and basketball teams have had the opportunity to compete at the national level. On top of that many of the teams have won Conference titles as well. It speaks volumes to the program, the coaches, and the athletes. Oh yeah, and we can't forget about the fans. On behalf of the athletic program, I would like to acknowledge and thank the students, faculty, staff, and community who have rallied support for IUE athletics.

More sports talk: the tennis team (men's and women's) has a match at University of Indianapolis. We will be facing Franklin College. For us women, it will be our first match of the spring season...and I cannot wait! The match begins at 3:00. See you there?
