Being Crafty in Canterbury

11/07/2011

So this isn’t the “special” blog that I know you all were anxiously awaiting, but the wait WILL be worth it, I promise! This blog will instead be one about my life as of late and every detail that you all probably won’t care to read. So let me dive into all of the uneventful things that have been happening. Here we go!

On Friday I had my first essay due and it was for my History of Medicine class. Tidbit time: Here at Kent, in the classes I’m taking, I have zero homework, but no, don’t get too excited because what I lack in actual homework I make up for in reading and essays. Every week we are assigned different reading that we will discuss in seminar. The seminar consists of the lecturer and a small portion of the class. This gives us an opportunity to discuss the week’s material more intimately and thoroughly, and I really enjoy it.  I have two essays due this semester for my History of Medicine class and one MAJOR one due for my Greek religion class (it’s 80% of my grade!!) I really enjoy my History of Medicine class and it’s rather interesting, but the professor scares the crap out of me. He is German and sometimes I want to pull a Kristin Wiig from Bridesmaids on the plane to Vegas, yes, you know the scene, but I realize that would be totally inappropriate and I would never have the gall to pull such a stunt. So this past week consisted of me staying up late to finish my essay even though three weeks ago I promised myself I wouldn’t procrastinate on this essay. Riiiiight. So after turning in my essay I went and bought junk food then proceeded to lie in bed for the next two days watching movies. So naturally after watching so many movies, it’s time for me to get my Ebert&Roper on, shall I?

Abduction: Movie=AWFUL. Taylor Lautner’s abs=Drool-worthy as always. So it’s up to you to gage if the benefit of seeing Jacob Black’s sexy body is worth losing the 2 hours of your life you will NEVER regain.

Bad Teacher: 2 thumbs WAY down.

Friends with Benefits: Was actually pretty good. I would recommend.

No Strings Attached: Exactly like Friends with Benefits except Kelso gets with Natalie Portman. I wonder if Jackie got jealous?

The Social Network= My new favorite movie. SO. GOOD. And where has Andrew Garfield been my whole life?

Now on to even more enthralling topics…my Sunday (!) which was spent doing crafts?! My mom has always made my house back home so homey and welcoming with all of her decorations and design, so as I am DEFINITELY my mother’s child, I too long for a sense of warmth and welcoming in my room here. Unfortunately, my bed spread and curtains are extremely ugly, but I got them through the school which probably explains it. In order to make my room more homey, I bought some posters at a sale my school had a couple of weeks ago and I just bought a life size cardboard cut-out of Taylor Lautner to stick on my wall which was and will continue to be the best 15 pounds I have ever spent. Then tonight I randomly decided to create a sunset on my wall out of construction paper my mom sent me a while ago. I mean, why not? I turned on some Christmas music and started to cut away! I think it’s quite cute, but I may be a little biased. I’m trying to depict (in your Fiddler on the Roof voice) the sunrise/sunset! So I have included the night sky using black construction paper with my new gold nail polish that I splattered on the paper for the stars. Speaking of stars, I cut some out and put them around my mirror to add some pizzazz to my other wall. Overall, this lazy weekend has been a success! Well as successful as a lazy weekend can be, I guess? Now this coming week I WILL start my next essay which is due December 2nd. Wish me luck. I promise my next blog will be much more interesting but until then, here are some pictures of my room here AFTER my crafty renovation! ‘Til next time-

PS- Yes, my room is always this clean! I may or may not have an overactive cleaning disorder, but admitting it is the first step, right?
