My Computer is Alive!

03/20/2015

I think Indiana University East's IT department deserves some recognition! Last week my computer decided it no longer wanted to work; no browser would load. I was freaking out because all of my classes are online and without my computer I would not be able to turn in my assignments. IUE does have computer labs but I spend my days working and my nights doing homework in the comfort of my own home - no makeup and sweatpants :) I went to Best Buy because I thought my computer had finally bit the dust (it is four years old- which is apparently equivalent to a million years old according to my lovely roommate). I am not a fan of Best Buy but I needed a computer. I looked around but did not feel like spending hundreds of dollars on a new laptop. I got back in my car and rationalized that I would find another way to do my homework even if that included doing my homework on my roommates computer when she wasn't using it. The saying "sleep on it" really holds some truth. I woke up with the idea that maybe the IT department at school could fix it for me. And sure enough they did! Chris in at the IUE IT department spent six hours running software that would delete all the junk that had made camp in the innards of my computer. I was so relieved that I didn't have to spend the money getting a new computer or taking it to a computer company like I had done in the past. Chris fixed my computer for FREE!!! Another reason to LOVE IUE!

Side note: I had the same problem with my computer a couple years ago and took it to a computer store that charged $150 to get it working again. I didn't mind paying the money to get my computer working again, but don't make the same mistake I did, I had no idea that IT department at school would fix it!
