The IU East Alumni Oral History Project to celebrate IU’s Bicentennial in 2020 is beginning to wrap up for Spring 2017. Most recently we have been able to interview Denice Honaker, David Markley, Kara Bellew, Doris Phelps, Kimberly Schwartzel, Kraig Rose, and Rachel Rose. (Intern Cassidy Clouse and Professor of Early Childhood Education Dr. Denice Honaker, 2016, courtesy of IUE Library) Beginning in August 2016, I have immersed myself in the history and legacy of Indiana University East. The IU East Archives- Exploring and Preserving the Campus’ History

The campus archives is doing a lot to prepare for IU’s Bicentennial in 2020 and for IU East’s 50th anniversary in 2021. IU East alumni will hear from the East campus Bicentennial intern, Cassidy Clouse, or archivist, Beth South. We also have a few other projects happening at the IU East Archives … Continued

We take … Continued
Collecting Our History

Collecting Our History

As part of IU’s Bicentennial efforts, every campus is collecting oral histories from their alumni, creating a large and lasting archive of what life was like for our students and what IU has meant in their lives. But since IU East’s 50th Anniversary is also approaching, we are seeking to create a more comprehensive collection of oral histories, including alumni, faculty, staff, administrators, and allies in the community. Cassidy Clouse has begun the process with staff who are also alumni, and has previously reported on her efforts in this blog. I have been given the honor of speaking to some of our older staff and supporters, in addition to IU East alumni. David Fulton I was privileged to speak with … Continued
