Creative Writing at IU East

Our faculty offer a range of classes, from an introductory multi-genre course, to upper level and graduate workshops in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, online and face-to-face.  Creative writing is one of three concentrations (along with technical writing and literature) offered as part of the Bachelor of Arts in English.

There are opportunities for student involvement in on-campus open mic readings, our student-edited literary journal Tributaries, paid  creative writing assistantships,  interactions with published visiting writers in our Regional Writers Series, off-campus Community Creative Writing Workshops with our own faculty and community members in the Dwyer Community Center, a creative writing contest for regional high-school students (Whitewater Valley Creative Writing Competition), and many more ways to get involved with the wide spectrum of all that is creative writing.
