As we near the end of spring semester many students are preparing to leave the educational setting and go into the job market. It is GRADUATION TIME! Many of you have worked hard and are preparing resumes, going to interviews, and making sure all the “I”s are dotted and the “t”s are crossed. Graduation can be an exciting time as you think back over the countless hours spent studying, taking tests, working with classmates, and getting to know professors.
Some of the things that many students do not think about doing are filling out a graduation application, deciding what to wear, preparing for the ceremony, making accommodations for family and friends coming in from out of town. To apply for graduation you will need to access your student center and complete the graduation application. Experience from previous students graduating have said that reservations need to be made months in advance for the big day because hotels fill up fast and the prices jump 30 days before the commencement ceremony.
Speaking to Elizabeth P. a student that graduated in the winter semester she said the biggest stress she had was what she was going to wear to graduation. She said the best thing she could recommend to other students is to wear comfortable shoes because you will be walking around a lot and your feet will hurt. Another experience she said she never knew was that many schools will give you an empty diploma case and mail your diploma to you to make the process move faster.
Overall the best things to do when getting close to graduation is to begin preparing. This day will rank at the top if you most important days right next to your wedding and the birth of your children. Preparation will help to make your das as smooth and stress-free as possible.
