Advisory Council Expectation Statement
- Support and help advance the mission, vision, strategic plans, and long-range objectives of the Indiana University East School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Serve as an advocate for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences in the community.
- Prepare for and attend council meetings.
- Communicate regularly with the Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences via email or phone if they have particular concerns, advice, and feedback related to the School.
Term and Meetings
The term of office is 3 years, and the Advisory Council will meet bi-annually.
The mission of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences is to explore the many dimensions of the human condition in our teaching, scholarly and creative activities, and service.
As a unit of IU East, HSS supports and promotes all aspects of the campus mission. We especially endorse the campus commitment to diversity.
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences aspires to be recognized on campus and in the region for excellence in teaching and student learning, for the creative and scholarly output of its faculty, and for the active engagement of its students and faculty with the community.
The faculty, students, and graduates of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences will take an active role in creating vibrant, thriving communities that are shaped by and responsive to all their members.
The IU East School of Humanities and Social Sciences includes the disciplines of Anthropology, Communication Studies, Criminal Justice, English, Fine Arts, Geography, History, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Religious Studies, Sociology, Theatre, Women’s and Gender Studies, and World Languages.
