"Without music, life would be a mistake." -Friedrich Nietzsche

Music is fundamental to human life and well-being. The music program at IU East offers a range of opportunities for exploring music, from electives for non-majors, to a Minor in music, to a structured Track in music within the Bachelor of Arts in Humanities degree. Do you play an instrument? Join the Pop/Rock Ensemble. Do you sing? Join the IU East Chorale. Are you interested in the history of music? Consider a class in classical, rock, popular, country, jazz, film, theater, or world music.

For students interested in a structured music program, we offer courses in Music Theory, Music History, applied instrumental and vocal lessons, and ensemble opportunities, as well as our Bachelor of Arts in Humanities-Music degree and our Music Minor. Browse through the menu to the left for more details, and contact Jessica Raposo, the Coordinator of Music, at with any questions.
