Psychology

The Psychology program at IU East focuses on exposure to research methodology and statistical analysis to develop the broad problem-solving skills necessary in psychology. Because of the link to various other disciplines such as humanities, mathematics, and other social and natural sciences, a degree from the Department of Psychology can be applied in many careers and provide background for students entering graduate work in psychology and related areas, as well as the professions of medicine, dentistry, law, and business.

Psychology Department Mission

The mission of the psychology program at IU East is to provide students with opportunities to become more scientific in their thinking about human behavior and mental processes.  This includes being a better consumer of research, understanding the importance of having evidence for beliefs, improving interpersonal and intrapersonal skills, and facilitating career preparation.  Ultimately, students should be able to communicate these insights to others.
