Karen Clark, dean of Nursing at Indiana University East, has been named as a fellow for the Mid-America Public Health Leadership Institute. This fellowship is designed to promote organizational, professional and personal leadership skill development. MARPHLI fellows develop greater effectiveness in carrying out the core public health functions of assessment, policy development and assurance not only within their agencies, but also throughout the wider public health system in their community. This year-long institute also focuses on addressing cutting edge public health issues.

Larry Richards, executive vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, said the fellowship was an affirmation the faculty’s expertise in their respective fields.

“This is another example of IU East faculty-administrators and other faculty being recognized for their potential as higher education leaders and scholars of the highest quality,” Richards. “As IU East moves quickly to realize its standing as a full-fledged bachelor’s and master’s degree institution, these leaders and scholars are the ones that will propel the campus into a position of national prominence. We are proud of Karen’s selection; it is certainly well deserved.”
