Indiana University East Chancellor Nasser Paydar has been invited to the White House to participate in a roundtable discussion on college affordability and completion with administration officials. The roundtable discussion will be held Friday, March 23.

“Higher education has reached a critical point in our nation. It is imperative to join forces with our nation’s leaders to strategically advance attainable educational opportunities,” Paydar said.  “At IU East, we are committed to providing affordable and high-quality baccalaureate programs. I look forward to the opportunity to engage with administration officials in a conversation on college access, affordability, and completion at the White House roundtable this Friday.”

During the roundtable, administration officials will engage presidents and chancellors in exploring constructive solutions to making higher education more affordable and attainable and regaining America’s global leadership in higher education attainment, as described in the Obama administration’s “Education Blueprint: An Economy Built to Last.” The “Education Blueprint,” released February 27 by the White House, links the strength of the American economy to the education system.

Invited attendees have been asked to share their perspectives and best practices on enhancing productivity, increasing access and attainment, and leading change at institutions of higher education in efforts to ease the financial burden placed on students and advance strategies for more students to attend and graduate from college.

IU East has recently been recognized for its new model for higher education, its growth, and its accomplishments related to productivity, innovation, and community college collaboration.
