November 15, 2016 |

Stephanie Whitehead has been appointed the new director of the Center for Teaching and Learning.

As director, Whitehead will provide leadership in best teaching practices to support effective student learning for all modes of instructional delivery.  She will work with and supervise the CTL staff in developing and delivering faculty development opportunities for both full-time and adjunct faculty and teaching staff about best practices related to pedagogy, learning and assessment.

Whitehead will also work with the CTL staff to provide support for faculty using CANVAS and other applications of technology in the online and face-to-face classroom.  Given the number of online courses offered by IU East, the position will also focus on helping faculty and deans ensure all online instruction is consistently of high quality, by providing course design support and by promoting trainings, certifications and course review.

In addition to her responsibilities as director, Whitehead will continue in her faculty position. She is an accomplished associate professor of criminal justice as well as the director and advisor for the Women’s and Gender Studies program.
