New restaurant opens on campus
A new restaurant opens today at Indiana University East.
The Den is a four-station eatery featuring daily entrée selections, made-to-order sandwiches, wraps, subs, fresh salad bar, soup station, hot and cold grab-and-go items, fountain and bottled beverages, snacks, and desserts. Led by Chef Martina Chomel, director of Food Services, patrons will be able to choose from a variety of healthy, affordable foods.
Construction to remodel the campus café into the new restaurant was completed this summer. Today’s grand opening includes a ribbon cutting with the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce at 4 p.m.
Dan Dooley, vice chancellor for Administration and Finance, said The Den provides a relaxing atmosphere.
“The Den promises to provide a fresh menu each day with healthy, nutritious options. We took into great consideration the recommendations from our students, staff and faculty to create a unique atmosphere and dining experience for the IU East campus,” Dooley said.
The Den joins Bear Creek Coffee, located in Springwood Hall, to offer students, faculty, staff and the community a place to dine on campus and socialize while at IU East. The Den offers seating in its state-of-the art dining room as well as take out.
Students will be able to customize a Personal Dining Plan to suit their dining needs. Instead of using cash or credit cards, students can purchase a meal plan and add it to their Wolf Card, the IU East student ID card. Faculty and IU East employees may also purchase a dining plan.
