School of Education sponsors Professional Clothing for Success Store

September 3, 2009 |

The Indiana University East School of Education and the Student Education Association are sponsoring a Professional Clothing for Success Store (PCS) for all IU East students. Anyone who would like to share gently used professional clothing and accessories may drop the items off in the Springwood Hall Campus Life Conference Room, located in office suite 107. The drop-off dates and times are Thursday, September 10, between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. or Friday, September 11, between 7:30 a.m. and noon.

Items need to be clean, free of wrinkles, and have the sizes clearly marked. (If size tags have been removed please pin the size to the inside.) In addition to dresses, suits, pants, shirts, blouses, blazers, jackets and outerwear, feel free to include accessories such as ties, scarves and belts.

The IU East Professional Clothing for Success Store is an opportunity for students to attain quality professional clothing at no charge. Students will be welcome to select items on Monday, September 14, and Tuesday, September 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Campus Life Conference Room.

Marilyn Watkins, dean of the School of Education, said the goal of the Professional Clothing for Success store is to provide a resource for students to find business attire for job interviews, field and clinical experiences, or internships.

“This is a great opportunity to provide students with the needed professional clothing during their college years and in order to begin their careers,” Brenda Buckner, SEA faculty sponsor, said. “This is a new adventure our student association has organized and it will be a rewarding experience for those involved. By being prepared with the right outfit, and taking the worry away of purchasing these clothes, the students will be well-suited to join the workforce.”
