Indiana University East and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) agreed August 13 that the university is the primary provider for baccalaureate online degree completion programs for WTA players. The agreement was signed by IU East Chancellor Kathryn Cruz-Uribe and Women’s Tennis Benefits Association (WTBA) Chair Lisa Grattan.

“Our team at IU East is thrilled with this new partnership with the WTA,” said IU East Chancellor Kathryn Cruz-Uribe. “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to provide these professional women a world-renowned degree program online.”

“There is a buzz among the players about the online educational opportunities now available through IU East,” Grattan said. “The WTA and players are excited about this partnership.”

IU East’s Director of Admissions Molly Vanderpool said, “IU East online degree completion programs are a good fit for WTA players. The women of WTA have busy schedules training, traveling and with their personal lives. The online degree programs provide an opportunity for these women to complete their degrees at their convenience.”

Founded in 1973, the WTA is the global leader in women’s professional sport with more than 2,500 players representing 92 nations.

IU East online degree programs can also offer the high quality of an Indiana University degree to students throughout Indiana, nationally and internationally. While the agreement was made official Monday, WTA players have been enrolled at IU East since the spring 2013 term. The quality of IU East’s online programs has attracted internationally-known tennis superstar Venus Williams, who is currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration online completion program at IU East.

IU East’s online programs offer 10 options for students who wish to complete their bachelor’s degree online. IU East currently offers bachelor’s degrees online in English, Technical and Professional Writing, Natural Science and Mathematics, a Mathematics Concentration, Communication Studies; Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Psychology, General Studies and an RN to BSN Mobility Option.
