IU East will sponsor two musical events this weekend on campus and in the Richmond community.

IU East guitar instructor, David Taulbee, will have a faculty recital at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 17. This event is free and open to the public.

Taulbee will perform works by both Spanish guitarists such as Francisco Tarrega and Fernado Sor as well as classical music composed by Heitor Villa-Lobos and J.S. Bach. The performance will be held in Vivian Auditorium.

Then on Saturday, April 18, IU East students will perform “Playing with the popular: A concert of Victorian songs found in the novels of Charles Dickens” for the Midwest Victorian Studies Association. The performance is 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the Gennett Mansion. It is free and open to the public with a reservation.

This performance is part of the three-day Victorian Conference, hosted by the Midwest Victorian Studies Association 2009 Conference, at IU East taking place April 17-19.
