Marcy Jance, associate professor of business administration, has been named a regional recipient of the 2018 ACBSP Teaching Excellence Award. The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) recognizes individuals each year who exemplify teaching excellence in the classroom.

Jance will be recognized during the ACBSP annual conference held June 8-11 in Kansas City, Missouri. She will receive a crystal medallion and a $250 check. Two International Teaching Excellence Award recipients will be announced at a special Salute to Regions luncheon, one from a baccalaureate/graduate degree-granting institution and one from an associate degree-granting institution.

Jance is now a candidate for the international award as a regional recipient of the award.

Jance joined IU East in August 2008. She earned her Ph.D. in Management Science from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. She primarily teaches Statistics and Fundamentals of Microsoft Office. Her research interests include big data and analytics and developing case studies for quantitative, technical, and business courses for student learning and assessment purposes.

The IU East School of Business and Economics also will be recognized at the annual conference for its reaffirmation of accreditation. The School of Business and Economics received reaffirmation of accreditation from ACBSP in January 2018.

The affirmation is for the business program’s Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree program, including Concentrations in CPA Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Finance, Computer Information Systems (formerly Management Information Systems), Marketing, Economics and Entrepreneurship. The Master of Science in Management received its first accreditation from ACBSP at the same time. The business programs at IU East were first accredited by ACBSP in 1997. It is a requirement to go through the reaffirmation process every 10 years to maintain ACBSP accreditation.
