Angie Dickman is the recipient of the 2017 ATHENA Leadership Award® for Wayne County. Dickman, of Richmond, Ind., was presented the award during the ATHENA celebration dinner held June 22 at Forest Hills Country Club in Richmond. The event recognizes women leaders who motivate, inspire and create positive change in the community.

Wayne Bank and IU East have partnered for the fourth year to bring the ATHENA Leadership Award® to Wayne County.

The ATHENA Leadership Award® is presented to an individual who is honored for their professional excellence, community service and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills.

IU East Chancellor Kathryn Cruz-Uribe thanked those who submitted nominations in recognition of the leadership and service of women in the community.

“We are honored to present this year’s award to Angie and applaud her for the many ways she makes this community a better place to live,” Cruz-Uribe said.

Dickman is vice president at Reid Health. She oversees many areas at Reid Health including Information Systems, Business Development, Reid Physician-Hospital Organization, Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy, Retail Services, Physician Liaison and Outreach, Regional Market Strategic Planning. In the community, Dickman serves as chair of the IU East Board of Advisors and she is a board member and resource development chair for Community in Schools.

Dickman is a past board chair of the Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce also has also served Birth-To-Five, Richmond-Wayne County Life Sciences Task Force, Tri-Kappa women’s service organization, Wayne County Economic Development Corporation, Seton Catholic School, Earlham College Community Partnership Council and the United Way Annual Campaign.

The three finalists for this year’s award included Dickman, Pat Heiny, co-owner of Contemporary Consulting; and Bonita Washington-Lacey, senior vice president for Academic Affairs and director of Accreditation Activities at Earlham College. Heiny and Washington-Lacey are also Richmond residents. Previous recipients of the ATHENA award are Mary Jo Clark, Jackie Carberry and Kim Poinsett.

Proceeds from the celebration dinner benefit local organizations dedicated to serving leadership building for women. This year the proceeds will benefit the IU East Center for Service Learning and the Wayne County Boys & Girls Club.
