August 27, 2012 |

Indiana University East will celebrate the start of the fall semester with new and returning students during the annual Back with the Pack August 28-30. The three-day event is sponsored by the Office of Campus Life. Fall semester classes start today (Monday, August 27).

IU East expects another record-breaking semester in terms of enrollment, which will mark the 14th consecutive semester of enrollment growth.

Rebeckah Hester, director of the Office of Campus Life, said the event was to engage students and to provide a positive experience for the start of the semester.

“We encourage our students to attend Back with the Pack to meet with other students, faculty and staff. We want students to come out and to enjoy the activities being provided, to have a good time and to start the academic year off with an incredible experience.”

Back with the Pack kicks off at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, with free lunch for students and activities including a zip line, mechanical bull, dunk tank, Jacob’s ladder, and Student Organization Fair. Students will receive a free t-shirt. The zip line will extend 165 feet from Hayes Hall to Springwood Hall. Riders will glide over the campus quad area, 28 feet above the activities going on below.

On Wednesday, August 29, students can attend a free performance by the band South Jordan. Also that day the Office of Campus Life is hosting the Student Organization Fair and providing free ice cream for students. Back with the Pack activities are noon to 2 p.m. that day.

The welcome back event concludes on Thursday, August 30, with a miniature golf course day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students also receive free pizza.
