Indiana University East will celebrate the start of the fall semester with new and returning students during the annual Back with the Pack August 30 to September 1.The three-day event is sponsored by the Office of Campus Life.

Fall semester classes started today (Monday, August 29).

Director of Campus Life Rebeckah Hester said the event is an opportunity for students to get to know others on campus and to meet faculty and staff.

“Back with the Pack is our signature event to welcome students to the campus as they prepare to begin the fall semester,” Hester said. “We want to invite them to participate in these activities to have fun, to meet other people on campus, and to start off the academic year with a positive experience.”

Back with the Pack kicks off at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, with free lunch for students and activities including a dunk tank, carnival rides, and Student Organization Fair. Students will receive a free t-shirt.

On Wednesday, August 31, students can attend a free performance by musician Jared Mahone. Also that day the Office of Campus Life is hosting the Student Organization Fair and providing free ice cream sundaes and floats to students.

The welcome back event concludes on Thursday, September 1, with a “Wet ‘n Wild!” day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students receive free beach towels and can participate in activities such as inflatable water slides, water balloon and water gun fights.

IU East anticipates the Class of 2015 to be a record-breaking number of incoming freshman students. The campus expects a record fall enrollment again this fall, once census is taken on September 3. Enrollment figures are not official until approved by the President of Indiana University.
