Bear Creek Coffee has established itself as the campus coffeehouse at Indiana University East. Since officially opening its campus location in the fall, in the Graf Center of Springwood Hall, the lounge has been a central gathering space for students to study and play and faculty and staff to meet.

Robert Spencer, owner, said Bear Creek Coffee has been well received on campus. Bear Creek Coffee is locally owned and operated and its original location on Chester Boulevard in Richmond. “The students really needed an area to relax and the coffee bar has really been an added bonus and has helped to enrich the campus life for faculty and staff as well,” Spencer said.

Students using the Graf Center lounge have access to pool tables, hockey tables, seating areas for discussions and study as well as occasional video game tournaments. The campus is adding an internet bar in the lounge and will mount a plasma flat screen for students to watch movies.

“The students are eager to spend time on campus and to have a place to socialize and to relax,” said Rebeckah Snoddy, director of Campus Life. “Bear Creek Coffee has become one of the spaces on campus for students to meet, to study and to engage in conversation or entertainment.”

Bear Creek Coffee has created a beverage especially for the campus – the Red Wolf Special. It’s a latte made of espresso, milk, white chocolate, raspberry flavoring and whipped topping. Other menu items feature flavored lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, espresso, Chai tea, steamers and hot cocoa. Cold beverages included iced mochas and lattes, Italian sodas and fruit smoothies. Bear Creek offers food items such as cinnamon rolls, muffins, cookies, scones and fruit.

The campus Bear Creek Coffee is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Friday.
