A new event organized this year by Indiana University East and the Richmond Art Museum (RAM) to raise funds for the arts has sold out. Proceeds from this collaborative fundraiser benefit RAM programming and the IU East Department of Fine Arts.

Sponsors have generated $50,000 in support for the event. Additional support will come through ticket sales and a needs-based auction during the event. Palette to Palate is presented by West End Bank.

The event will be held from 6-11 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, at the Kuhlman Center, 861 Salisbury Rd. in Richmond. Participants will enjoy a “Saturday in the Park” atmosphere as talented musicians, amazing artists, creative street performers and award-winning chefs transform the Kuhlman Center.

IU East Vice Chancellor for External Affairs Jason Troutwine said the university is pleased to partner with RAM.

“We’re excited to partner with the Richmond Art Museum and bring this unique event to Richmond,” Troutwine said. “To have a sell out two weeks before the event demonstrates our community’s support for the arts.”

Shaun Dingwerth, executive director of the RAM, said Palette to Palate will continue the tradition of supporting the arts.

“RAM and IU East have an ongoing partnership in providing arts education and art exhibitions to the greater Richmond community. This fundraiser will enable us to continue to provide high quality exhibitions and art educational opportunities for individuals of all age levels,” Dingwerth said. “Our creative committee is putting FUN in FUNdraising. This event is featuring talented regional artists who are using their creativity to engage our patrons visually.”

Palette to Palate will be hosted by Karen E. Laine and Mina Starsiak from HGTV’s Good Bones. Laine and Starsiak are a mother-daughter team working to renovate dilapidated homes in a downtown Indianapolis community, Fountain Square.

Guests will enjoy music by Floyd and the Walkmen, a Cincinnati based-band that delivers a robust mix of songs and entertainment that captivates audiences and gets people moving. Floyd and the Walkmen includes Floyd Blackburn, Jeremy Singer, Joshua Holldan and Brian Williamson.

Food will be provided by several Indiana Food Trucks including The Big Cheeze of Bloomington, Indiana, Las Tortugas of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Johnson’s BBQ Shack of Bargersville, Indiana.

Featured artists include Tiff & Etch (Tiffany Clark and Christopher “Etch” Weyrich), co-owners of The Mural Machine in Dayton, Ohio, and Richmond artists Sontina Reid, Carvin Rinehart and Joe Swanson.
