Indiana University East awards students during Honors Convocation

Several Indiana University East students were recognized on Thursday, April 17 during the Honors Day Convocation in Vivian Auditorium. Interim Chancellor Nasser H. Paydar presided over the program.

Outstanding Student Awards were given to individuals in their degree programs who displayed outstanding academic achievement at IU East. Students receiving awards are the following:

Chancellor’s Scholar Awards are campus-wide awards, presented to the highest achieving seniors, by academic school. Chancellor’s awards were presented to Von Spaulding (Richmond, Ind.) in business and economics, Mattie Burns (New Madison, Ohio) in education, Jeffrey Hughes (Hagerstown, Ind.) in general studies, Melissa Blankenship (Richmond, Ind.) in humanities and social sciences, Trisha Renner (Lewisburg, Ohio) in natural science and mathematics, Aimee Glaser (Mooreland, Ind.) in nursing and Denise Weiss (Richmond, Ind.) in social work.

This year’s ceremony also presented graduating students enrolled in the IU East Honors Program. Honors graduates are Melissa Blankenship, Kisha Jennings and Jennifer Neal (Mooreland, Ind.).

 In addition, the Naomi Osborne Award to Melissa Blankenship as the graduating senior with the highest grade point average.
