The Red Wolves joined a tremendous pack of 13 this fall.

Indiana University East was one of just 13 schools in the nearly 300-member National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA)
represented at the NAIA Volleyball National Championship, at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships, and in the men’s basketball NAIA Coaches Top 25 during the fall of 2010.

The Red Wolves volleyball team qualified for the NAIA Volleyball National Championship for the second time.

Freshman runner Carlie Rider (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton High School) represented IU East at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships.

And the IU East men’s basketball team became the school’s first program to crack an NAIA Top 25 poll, peaking at No. 20 on Dec. 6.

“This list has some of the most elite athletics programs in the country, and we’re on there,” said IU East athletic director and men’s basketball coach Mark Hester. “It’s a list we’d definitely like to stay on.

“It says a lot about IU East’s commitment to athletics, and it is a credit to our coaches and athletes in their respective sports for putting in the time and dedication to reach that level of success.”

This is just the fourth school year of NAIA competition for the Red Wolves’ athletics programs.

The “Tremendous Thirteen” are Azusa Pacific University (Calif.), Biola University (Calif.), Concordia University (Calif.), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Fla.), Friends University (Kan.), Indiana Institute of Technology, Jamestown College (N.D.), Lee University (Tenn.), Lindenwood University (Mo.), Malone University (Ohio), St. Ambrose University (Iowa), St. Xavier University (Ill.) and IU East.
