Olivia Robinson and Logan Ullery have been chosen as the 2013 Lingle Scholars. The scholarship award will continue throughout their pursuit of a four-year degree at Indiana University East.
Both graduated in June 2013 and are freshmen at IU East this fall. Robinson is a graduate of Hagerstown High School and Ullery is a graduate of Northeastern High School.

Robinson will pursue a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in mathematics at IU East. She is the daughter of Brad and Betsy Robinson of Hagerstown, Ind.

While at Hagerstown High School, Robinson was a member of the National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, Prevention Using Student Help (PUSH) and served as a peer mentor. She played volleyball, basketball, and tennis. She was the 2012 Wayne County 4-H queen. She was the salutatorian of her graduating class.

Ullery is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business. He is the son of Rodney and Tammy Ullery of Richmond, Ind.

While in high school, Ullery was a member of the National Honor Society, a peer tutor and peer helper, a drum major of the marching band and he played the French horn as well as basketball and baseball.

The Lingle Scholar award was established by Paul and Pat Lingle in 2005 in order to keep the best and brightest youth in Wayne County.

The scholarship is given to an incoming freshman student who has also been accepted to the IU East Honors Program, an academic program that provides an intellectually enriched curriculum for highly motivated students. Applicants must undergo an interview process with the Honors Program committee as well as with the Lingles.

Recipients receive a $2,000 annual scholarship over four years.
