Indiana University East is continuing to post updated information and recommendations on the H1N1 flu virus. The university has established an H1N1 Preparedness Web site at www.iue.edu/H1N1 with campus specific information, tips for prevention, symptoms, and frequently asked questions. Faculty, staff, students and their parents, as well as campus visitors, are encouraged to review this information on a continued basis for newly posted information.

Updates on H1N1 are included from the local, state and federal health organizations. Since spring 2009, IU East has followed all recommendations from Indiana University, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Wayne County Health Department. University officials meet regularly to review procedures for communicable diseases and other campus emergencies. Plans and resources are in place should an outbreak occur.

The Center for Health Promotion at IU East is administering seasonal flu shots to faculty, staff and students. The center will have H1N1 vaccinations available to faculty, staff and students when the vaccine becomes available.

IU East is offering this information to encourage the campus and community to be proactive in preventing the spread of H1N1 by keeping up-to-date with the information available. The health and safety of students, faculty, staff and their families is the university’s highest priority. IU East administrators will continue to closely monitor the situation and respond as appropriate.
