IU East welcomes new professional staff
Indiana University East welcomes new professional staff to campus this spring.

Campus Library
Kathryn T. Lowe is the coordinator of Library Instruction & Service Learning in the Library. As the coordinator, Lowe designs and delivers library instruction and facilitates service-learning experiences that improve student academic success. In addition, she works collaboratively with faculty to plan, teach and assess instruction that cultivates students’ critical thinking skills.

Lowe received her Master of Science in Information, Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.

Previously, Lowe was a library technician at Oakland Community College and the gallery manager for The Loft Fine Art Gallery. Formerly, she was the librarian for the Oaks Correctional Facility. She served internships with the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House and Arab American National Museum in Dearborn, Mich.

Office of Communications and Marketing
James Hall is the web content manager for the Office of Communications and Marketing. In his role, Hall will oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of IU East’s digital presence on the Internet; contributing to the strategic plan to meet goals relating to the primary website

Hall is a graduate of Ivy Tech Community College in Richmond. He received his Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Technology and his PC Support and Administration Certificate from Ivy Tech. Previously, Hall worked for Programming and Micros in Richmond.

Upcoming Legislative Forums
The IU East Alumni Association is hosting legislative forums with Wayne County state legislators, Senator Jeff Raatz and Representatives Tom Saunders and Dick Hamm. The forums are an opportunity for the community to have an in-person discussion.

The forums will be held from 8-9 a.m. in the Springwood Hall Graf Center. The two remaining forums will be held February 27 and March 27.

The forums are free and open to the public. Each elected official will give opening remarks on the 2015 session of the Indiana General Assembly and any legislation of interest. The forum will then be opened for a question-and-answer period with the audience, moderated by Ross Alexander, dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Scales named Best of Region 4 Excellence Award
Tim Scales, senior lecturer in the School of Business and Economics and director for the Center for Entrepreneurship and the Center for Economic Education, presented and facilitated for the Randolph County Foundation Leadership Class on February 10 at the Beeson House. Scales presented his “Marketing Your Success” program designed for a team of working professionals.

Additionally, Scales was selected as the Best of the Region Excellence Award for ACBSP region 4. Scales was one of ten individuals invited to present at the annual regional meeting in South Bend, Ind. Having been awarded the Best of Region Award, Scales will now be one of eight individuals to present at the International Best of Regions Excellence Conference in June, held in Philadelphia, Pa.

The Great Lakes Council of Business Schools and Programs is a regional division of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs representing colleges and universities in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and the Canadian Province of Ontario. The mission of the ACBSP is to establish, promote and recognize educational standards that contribute to the continuous improvement of business education and, through the process of accreditation, to recognize business schools and programs that adhere to these standards.
