12 Pastellesists exhibit to open
Indiana University East will host the 12 Pastellists art exhibit July 27-September 18 in The Gallery, located in Whitewater Hall.

Assembled for the exhibit are a few of the finest pastel artists in the Midwest. Featured are landscapes, still lifes, and even animal and human studies, skillfully executed in the rich tones and textures only the medium of pastel can provide.

A reception for the artists will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, August 21, in The Gallery.

Visitors are welcome to view the exhibit during gallery hours, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Admission is free.

IU East welcomes new professional staff
Anthony Jones-Scott is the new data specialist/instructional media support position in the Center for Teaching and Learning. Jones-Scott will manage data for IU East Online and he will be responsible for simple video/audio support including items such as converting file formats and organizing media content in cloud files.

Previously, Jones-Scott was an instructor/designer at National Labor College (NLC) in Silver Spring Maryland. While at NLC, Jones-Scott had also worked as a senior academic advisor for CMGT, EMGT, and AA Programs. Before joining NLC, Jones-Scott was a Digital Production Lab Supervisor at Miami University in Oxford, where he also worked as an instructor for technology workshops and a visiting faculty member for second-year seminar.

He received his M.Ed. Curriculum and Educational Leadership a from  Miami University. Jones-Scott also received his B.A. Political Science, B.A. Psychology, B.A. History from Miami University.

Brad Smoker is a new law enforcement officer with the IU East Police Department. IU East police protect through the enforcement of laws and ordinances.

Previously, Smoker worked at the Wayne County Jail as a corrections officer. Formerly, he was a police officer with the Centerville Police Department.

Smoker graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in March 2012.
