IU East Red Wolves competing at nationals, road games this weekend

IU East’s Red Wolves are traveling across the Midwest and to the East Coast to compete in two national tournaments and regular season road games. The three teams will travel to Iowa, Kansas, Pennsylvania and New York.redwolflogo

The volleyball team is at Grand View University, located in Des Moines, Iowa, for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Championship Opening Round. The Red Wolves begin tournament play at 8:30 p.m. (Eastern time) on Saturday, November 23.

This is the fifth consecutive trip to the championship tournament for the Red Wolves. IU East (23-15) will play Grand View (29-13), the 20th ranked team in the nation.

The 12 Opening Round winners, host Briar Cliff (Iowa), and the 11 schools that received byes, will advance to the NAIA National Championship final site in Sioux City, Iowa, Dec. 3–7.

Two IU East student-athletes will compete in the NAIA Cross Country National Championships on Saturday. Seth Prince and Collin Burris will be at the national tournament 8K race, held at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan. The race starts at 11:30 a.m. (Eastern time).

Prince, a junior, and Burris, a freshman, qualified for the national meet at the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) meet Nov. 9 at Midway College. Prince placed fourth at the KIAC meet and Burris was sixth.

IU East last sent competitors to the men’s cross country national meet in 2009. Race results will be available at iueredwolves.com.

The men’s basketball will travel to Pennsylvania and New York for games today (Nov. 22) and Sunday, November 24. Tonight at 7 p.m., the Red Wolves (2-7) will play Penn State University Hazleton (1-4), located in Hazelton, Pa.

Sunday, the Red Wolves travel to play College of Saint Joseph (2-3) at 4 p.m. College of Saint Joseph in Brooklyn, N.Y. Game starting times are Eastern time. Game results and stats will be available at iueredwolves.com.
