IU East is the only institution of higher education in our service region that is AACSB accredited, affirming our commitment to providing high quality opportunities for our students,” Girten said.

Denise Smith, dean of the School of Business and Economics, said, “I am proud of the work of the faculty, staff, and students in the School of Business and Economics. AACSB accreditations is a recognition of their commitment to providing a high-quality education for our business majors. We are grateful to the IU East administration, our colleagues across campus, and members of the community for their support in our accreditation journey.”

Founded in 1916, AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools, and the largest business education network connecting learners, educators, and businesses worldwide.

“AACSB accreditation recognizes institutions that have demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development, and student learning,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB. “We congratulate Indiana University East and Dean Denise Smith on earning accreditation, and applaud the entire School of Business and Economics team—including the administration, faculty, staff, and students—for their roles in earning this respected honor.”

Michelle Malott, deputy chancellor and executive vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, said earning accreditation for the business program signifies the quality of the business programs offered by the school.

“I am very excited for Dean Smith, the faculty and staff of the School of Business and Economics, and IU East as we celebrate this news. AACSB accreditation is the result of a very rigorous review process that ensures the school has the credentials, commitment, and resources to provide students with a top-notch business education. This accreditation adds value to the IU East Business degree and helps employers know that our graduates have the knowledge and skills to excel in today’s competitive business environment.”

Synonymous with the highest standards of quality, AACSB accreditation inspires new ways of thinking within business education globally. As a result, less than 6 percent of the world’s schools offering business degree programs hold AACSB business accreditation. Through today’s ratification, a total of 950 institutions across 59 countries and territories have earned AACSB accreditation in business. Furthermore, 192 institutions maintain supplemental AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.

AACSB accreditation ensures continuous improvement and provides focus for schools to deliver on their mission, innovate, and drive impact. AACSB-accredited schools have successfully undergone a rigorous review process conducted by their peers in the business education community, ensuring that they have the resources, credentials, and commitment needed to provide students with a first-rate, future-focused business education.

“Indiana University East’s commitment to earning accreditation is a true reflection of their dedication—not only to their students, alumni network, and greater business community, but to the higher education industry as a whole,” said Bryant. “Today’s students are tomorrow’s business leaders, and the addition of the School of Business and Economic to the network of AACSB-accredited business schools will have a lasting positive impact for their institution, both locally and globally.”

AACSB announced IU East is one of 15 institutions internationally to receive accreditation in business including Ajman University; Ecole de Management Leonard de Vinci, De Vinci Higher Education in Paris-La Defense; John Cabot University; K J Somaiya Institute of Management; LUT University; NHH Norwegian School of Economics; School of Management at Universidad Externado de Colombia; The University of Nottingham; The University of Nottingham Ningbo China; The University of Nottingham Malaysia; Universidad de Oviedo; University College Cork; University of New Brunswick Fredericton; and University of Warsaw have earned accreditation in business.
