Indiana University East received approval from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges for its Master of Science in Management.

The first Master of Science in Management cohort will begin in January 2012 with the second to begin in August 2012. Students will complete three courses each semester for a total of four semesters. The degree is designed to be accomplished in fifteen months.

“Approval to move forward with the Masters of Science in Management is an important step into the future for the IU East School of Business. It allows us to broaden our impact on the economic and social development of the eastern Indiana and western Ohio regions,” said School of Business and Economics Dean David Frantz. “The graduate management program will foster the interpersonal leadership skills and contribute to the development of adaptive management skills in individuals currently interested in moving toward greater levels of organizational responsibility or gaining the necessary skills to move into supervisory and management positions.

In October, the School of Business and Economics will host three information sessions on the master’s program for the January and August 2012 cohorts. The information sessions will be held in the IU East Whitewater Hall Community Room.

Information sessions are scheduled for:
Thursday, October 13, 5:30–7 p.m.
Tuesday, October 18, 5:30–7 p.m.
Saturday, October 22, 10–11:30 a.m.

The M.S. in Management is distinguished from a Master of Business Administration by its special focus on organizational management, strategic thinking, and leadership skills, and is open to graduates from any bachelor’s degree program who meet the other qualifications.

The program is designed for individuals who have at least two years of work experience and who are current or emerging leaders in area organizations.
