Indiana University East will host master pianist Tamara Karetkina Orlovsky at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 9, in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall. Orlovsky is a former professor of piano at the University of Indianapolis.

The performance is free and open to the public.

Since the age of 10, Orlovsky has played with a symphony orchestra. A native of Russia, Orlovsky studied at the Leningrad Conservatory of Music, and earned her doctorate in music and piano performance from the Moscow Conservatory of Music. Orlovsky taught for eight years in the Special Music School of Leningrad, Russia.

Throughout her career, she has received outstanding reviews, critical acclaim, and standing ovations. Critics have called her a “dazzling virtuoso,” an “amazing pianist,” and “a master musician of astonishing technical ability.”

Orlovsky has performed in numerous solo and chamber recitals, including performances with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, the Kokomo Symphony Orchestra, and the South Bend Symphony Orchestra. She has been featured in the Butler University Romantic Festival, the San Diego Music Festival, the Indianapolis Russian Festival, and Carnegie Hall. She is also the co-director of “Musique de la ferme Normandie” concert series in Indianapolis, and was a founding member of the New Russian Trio.

Orlovsky has performed at many European venues as well, including appearances with the Dresden Symphony Orchestra (Germany), the Volgograd Philharmonic Orchestra (Russia), the Istanbul Music Festival (Turkey), the Bolzano Music Festival (Italy), and the Chicago Pro Musica in Bonn, Germany.
