Pioneers in applying complex composed structures to ordinary human behavior, the Lisa Fay and Jeff Glassman Duo brings its unique brand of movement-based theatre to the Indiana University East stage, October 17-20.

Using minimal if any dialogue, Fay and Glassman are known for originating the performance techniques required for their compositions to manifest in the medium of live theatre—embodied composition. Relying on the manipulation of time and space to capture aspects of everyday human life, the results range from humorous and disarming to mesmerizing and disorienting. In so doing, their works bring to our attention social processes of which we might not otherwise be aware.

Always ready to talk, not only about what they do, but also about human behavior, non-verbal communication, composition and performance, social structures and processes, and even how they organize themselves to pursue their passion and still make a living, Fay and Glassman will be on campus to talk with students, faculty, staff and the community in workshops and classes, or conversations in between.

A full performance of four pieces is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, with a breakout of two pieces each scheduled for Tuesday, October 18, and Thursday, October 20, during the day. Workshops are scheduled for those who would like to learn some of their performance techniques: no experience is necessary.

All events are in Vivian Auditorium, Whitewater Hall, and are free and open to the public.

Thursday, October 20
11 a.m to noon – Half performance, Vivian Auditorium, “Time and Time Again,” “Homeland” (40 minutes)
