Ayanna Thompson

Ayanna Thompson, Ph.D., will present on “Shakespeare, Race, and Performance: What We Still Don’t Know” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, in Whitewater Hall Room 132.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Meijer Artway.

Thompson is professor of English at George Washington University and vice president and president-elect of the Shakespeare Association of America.

She specializes in Renaissance drama and issues of race in performance. Thompson is working on a collection of essays for Cambridge University Press on Shakespeare and race, and is collaborating with Curtis Perry for a new edition of Titus Andronicus.

Thompson is the author of “Shakespeare in the Theatre” published by Arden Bloomsbury in 2018 and “Passing Strange: Shakespeare, Race, and Contemporary America” published by Routledge in 2006.
