Our Blue Planet

Earth Sciences offers courses for students pursuing degrees or instruction in professional programs such as biology, medicine, engineering, dentistry, chemistry and pharmacy. Students can also take courses in preparation for degrees in science or mathematics and related employment in areas such as natural resources management, public health, quality control, environmental assessment, urban planning, and municipal water treatment.

Courses are offered within Earth Sciences in physical and historical Geology, weather and climate, and oceanography.

Students are also encouraged to apply their knowledge of the earth sciences in areas outside the classroom. Opportunities exist to explore topics beyond the normal earth science curriculum through periodically offered directed individual study.

Courses in Earth Sciences at Indiana University East support baccalaureate (4 year) degrees in Biology (BS), Biochemistry (BS), Mathematics (BS), Human Life Science (BS), and in Natural Science and Mathematics (BA), with concentrations in Biology, Mathematics or Interdisciplinary Studies. A course in geology may also be applied toward a Minor in Environmental Studies.
