When Ryan Williams attended the Apple Fest in New Paris, Ohio, he had no idea his career goals would fall into place. Horses broke loose that day and trampled some people. CareFlight came in to treat the injured, and he knew in the moment THAT was what he wanted to do too.
Ryan now works not only as an EMS Coordinator for Reid Hospital’s Emergency Department, but also as a Flight Nurse/Paramedic for CareFlight at Miami Valley Hospital in Ohio. At Reid Hospital he serves many roles. He is a liaison between the hospital and the area EMS providers and fire departments, responsible for setting up education for other nurses so they can continue to provide top service to patients, and is a charge nurse in the Emergency Department, responsible for the daily operations such as staffing and patient flow. Ryan’s other role of CareFlight nurse deems him responsible for patient care during transport of the critically ill and/or injured patient.
The one thing Ryan has learned along the way is that the field of nursing offers endless opportunities. From bedside care to administration, politics to education; you can work in nursing homes, hospitals, federal agencies, and more.
