Diane Kenny holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Services from Iowa State University and a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Diane brings several years of academic advising experience from a variety of college institutions around the country.

Susan earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan – Flint. She earned her Master of Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University and her Master of Education in College Student Affairs Leadership from Grand Valley State University. Prior to coming to IU East, Susan worked as the Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life at The Pennsylvania State University and as an Accountant for Domino’s Pizza headquarters. During her spare time, Susan enjoys running, traveling and volunteering for Delta Phi Epsilon International Sorority and the National Panhellenic Conference.

Jessica is originally from Arcanum, OH and graduated from IU East in December 2013 with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She completed her Master of Education in Educational Leadership, with an emphasis on Student Affairs, in 2017. Jessica has previously worked at IU East as a ScholarCorps AmeriCorps representative for 21st Century Scholars and a Student Coach and Counselor, and worked at IU Southeast as an advisor for Natural Sciences. Jessica enjoys reading and spending time with her dog, a 5 year old lab/mini Australian Shepard mix named Blue.

Kierstan earned her bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from Oklahoma State University in 1996. In 2015, she completed her Masters of Science in Management at IU East. Prior to joining IU East, Kierstan worked with a local not-for profit agency which seeks to address potential barriers that impact student success in school. Her roles within the agency included working with potential first-generation students and their families towards academic success. She also helped to facilitate college and career explorations, coordination of the RCS Early College Preparatory Academy mentoring program, and was a point person for the Twenty-First Century Scholars program within the school she served. Beyond her devotion to family, Kierstan enjoys playing music with friends, cooking, furniture restoration and dabbling in multiple art forms.

Lindsey is originally from Arcanum, OH and graduated from IU East in May 2016 with her bachelor’s degree in English. She completed her Master of English from Ball State in May 2019, and returned to IU East as an adjunct for the English department later that same year. She has worked in several different capacities at IU East, as a Work Study, an Adjunct, a Program Assistant for HSS, a Writing Center Consultant, and an SI leader before coming to Academic Advising. In addition to her love of academia, Lindsey also enjoys reading, playing guitar, and most forms of exercise.

Michelle graduated from Ball State University in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in English Secondary Education and a dual minor in Speech Communications and Theater. In 2004, she completed a Master of Education at Indiana Wesleyan University. Prior to her advisor role, Michelle spent 17 years in secondary education as an English teacher at Hagerstown Jr.-Sr. High School, The Excel Center, and Richmond High School. In 2012, Michelle worked with educational activist and author, Erin Gruwell, at the Freedom Writer’s Institute in Long Beach, California to become one of 800 certified, international Freedom Writer Teachers. In her role as an academic advisor, Michelle hopes to draw upon her previous expertise, skill set, and professional experiences while also acquiring new knowledge and techniques pertinent to higher education. Her ultimate goal is to promote a learning-centered approach to advising where students will work collaboratively with Michelle to plan the best path toward continued academic success and future degree completion. Outside of work, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family, reading, watching movies, attending theatrical productions, socializing with close friends, being outdoors, traveling to fun vacation spots, and circuit training boxing.
