Academic Support Programs

Academic Support Programs

Academic Support Programs offers free assistance to IU East students who wish to improve their academic performance. Programs available to students include Supplemental Instruction, Exam Jam, and Extreme Summer JUMPSTART.

Mission Statement of Academic Support Programs

To create a supportive environment by providing instruction and services that will enhance academic performance and develop self-confidence, thereby promoting independent life-long learning.

Exam Jam

Exam Jam Spring 2020 is on Friday, April 24.

Exam Jam is an all-day campus event held the Friday before finals' week to help students prepare for their final exams. Students can attend review sessions and stop by the Graf Center for free food, drinks, games, and prizes.

Supplemental Instruction (SI)

What is Supplemental Instruction?

The Supplemental Instruction (SI) program offers free academic assistance to students enrolled in challenging entry-level courses. SI Leaders are students who have previously taken the course, been recommended by a faculty member, and trained by Academic Support Programs. SI Leaders attend class with the students and then conduct three to four regularly scheduled study sessions every week for the entire semester.

As a student, how you decide to prioritize your time to include all of your daily events and responsibilities is essential. By choosing to attend SI sessions, you will take an important step towards becoming a more successful student.

Studies have shown that students who attend SI sessions average one full letter grade higher than students who do not attend.
