Tuition for students who are enrolled in online programs is charged by credit hour as listed below. Tuition rates may vary by program (use the cost calculator for total estimated cost for your program).

Online program tuition per credit hour
Type In-State or Reciprocity† Out-of-State†
Undergraduate $242.48 $352.96

† Though technically living out-of-state, residents of several Western Ohio counties can be considered 'reciprocity' students and enjoy the benefit of in-state tuition rates!

Other fees may apply; credit hour fees for tuition are based on residency classification, career (class), program, and selected courses. All fees are approved by the Board of Trustees, usually in mid-May, and are subject to change without notice by action of the Board.

Financial Aid

There are a number of financial aid options to explore!

  • FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid): The application for aid including Pell Grants and Subsidized or Unsubsidized loan options.
    • Many adult students wonder if they would be eligible for federal funds. One of the best places to start is with the FAFSA4caster, an online tool to help you estimate the aid you may receive before completing the FAFSA application itself.
  • Your Employer: Many employers have programs available to help pay or support you while you continue your education. Consider talking to your supervisor or HR department about available opportunities.
  • Scholarships: There are a number of scholarships available through IU, IU East, and beyond. Keep in mind that many scholarships require that you apply early.
